The panelGrid component is rendered as an XHTML table. XHTML tables support the colspan and rowspan attributes to span cells across multiple columns/rows; every non-trivial layout makes use of it; the panelGrid component should really support these attributes.

PanelGrid rowspan/colspan

this feature definately deserves some investigation.
I have insterted it in our system to be evaluated in the next release.
I am afraid time-wise this one cannot make it in the upcoming one, as more investigation is needed to properly eval and, if possible, design, implement and test such feature.

Is there a work around that we can use?
