listgrid column headers swapping

hi,

What I am trying to do:

Like in the explorer example for the DataGrid I need to be able to drag a column and drop it on another position.

So my question is:

Is this default behavour of the DataGrid or do you have to implement it yourself?

hi luc,

This functionality is disabled for the bjs:listgid in the current Backbase JSF version.

Senaka.

Senaka,

Well, that is bad news! This feature, among some others, was one of the reasons our customer choose Backbase. We gave them a live demo and showed the functionality of some components in the component explorer of the Backbase website. We also showed them the livegrid also not available in the Java edition.

But let me get this straight first, so I know we are talking about the same feature here. Because this will have major impact on us choosing Backbase as our toolkit (or not).

I do not want to drag and drop the ListGrid or DataGrid itself, I just want to be able to switch the columns.
For example I have a ListGrid:

name | first name | gender

then I want to be able to do this:

first name| gender | name

The columns have switched places, not the entire ListGrid.

It is a pitty there is no disctinction being made between the functionality of the Java edition and the client edition.
People assume (al least we do) while exploring the components that Java edtion and client edition have the same functionality for the components. There is no where a statement that the Java controls have less functionality.

Luc

Hi luc.

I’m sorry that this functionality to swap columns is not included with our Backbase JSF Edition listgrids, I understand this is only available for the client edition listgrid. I have made a feature request for this functionality to get included in our future JSF releases. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Senaka

Is this available in client edition 4.2.0?

Hi Senaka,

Just want to clarify my understanding.
Are you suggesting dragging columns to different positions is available in the client edition 4.2.0? I tried the examples of listGrid. It did not work.
Like what the previous poster said, this is a major feature request from our customers. We definitely want to have it.

Thanks
